          Be Kulin Indigenous Network
Be KIN a subtle reminder of how. Be Kin to each other, kin to fauna, kin to flora, kin to country, kin to the environment as you are part of it, not separate from it.  Be Kin. You will never be lost, you will never be alone, you will always belong.
  1. Continuance of Kulin – traditional concepts, wisdoms and philosophies.
  2. To assist and support “indigenous” persons through personal collective volunteer actions.

BKIN is respect based Kulin principles and wisdoms. Respect for country, self, and the human values of another.  To encourage all people in Kulin to understand and respect place and everything in it.  Living connected with ‘country’ aware of the issues and responsibilities of country and cycles.  Living in Kulin there are concerns and issues of commonality, and ‘indigeneity’ for us all.  BKIN is a small group of indigenous traditional owners (all born Briggs).

BKIN – Living free to be Kulin.  A volunteer organisation practicing Kulin principles, paradigms and wisdom. Not living as dictated by the latest governments’ legislation, policies, nor strategies.  BKIN do not meet with, nor need to meet with, Australian, State, nor Local Government’s.  BKIN refuses government funding, refuses to live within the parameters of government funding.  We speak for, and represent ourselves along traditional processes, being consensus and non-negation.  We do not partner with nor meet with Australian, State, nor Local Governments’, nor ‘registered’ indigenous groups.  Nor do we expect anything created, funded and structured in an Australian government structure, to recognize us.  Every other Indigenous organisation, or business is funded by, or ruled by government legislation. (obviously not traditional concepts, not traditional systems).  We wish these types of organisations well in their modern Australian ways, and look forward to the day we can begin to have dialogue with these groups, and the many Indigenous settlers who have moved from around Australia and have chosen to move to, and live on Kulin country.

Be – just be – be yourself – effective simplicity – belong – the truth will set you free.

Kulin – (includes all the wur/rung). The area of Victoria with the most population. Where the most interaction between peoples and country occur, and signifies a connection between all. Most issues, organisations, services, are in Kulin. Kulin includes greater Melbourne and more, the country of the Boonwurrung, Dja Dja rung, Tunararung, Wathawurrung and Woiwurrung.

Indigenous – such an appropriate word for the greater population of Australia. A word thousands of years old and meaning everyone born of the country. (everyone born in Australia). Just a few years ago Australian governments legislated a definition of Indigenous to be the Australian Aborigine, which has quickly become modern day usage, and excludes most Australians.  For us we understand and live the original inclusive meaning.

Network – as it completes our great sounding acronym. BKIN.  Friendly, caring, being ourselves, to socialize, support, making a difference and be community.
